CURRENT MOON

Frequently Asked Question on the Calendar:

Why don't we follow the Rabbinic calendar set by Hillel II in the 3rd Century?

The reason is quite simple actually, since 2000 we have had the ability to observe time according to the biblical method due to the efforts of faithful servants of Yahweh in Israel; and in 2008 during the Fall Feasts of the Lord as I sought the Lord for what to do on the issue of which calendar to follow, the Heavens themselves declared to me what we should do simply because for the previous two years we had not seen a new moon on the Feast of Trumpets.  Since viewing the new moon makes up 1/3rd of the commands for observing this Appointed Time of God and since the only commands relative to this holiday are to gather as a community of believers, observe the new moon, and blow the shofar, not having a new moon is a big let down.

Above you can see the current day's moon phase or where the moon is in its cycle as seen in the northern hemisphere according to the time zone New Mexico is in.  But if you note the moon's phases generally, a "new moon" in astrology today is zero percent illumination, whereas a "new moon" in biblical terms is the first sighting from the naked eye of the first sliver of the new moon as it begins a new waxing phase.

Last year when we made the switch away from the rabbinic set calendar (and same situation will occur this year), the moon for the rabbinic date for the Day of Trumpets was zero percent illuminated.  This meant that the traditional rabbinic "changed" holiday of "Rosh HaShanah" of Judaism, as opposed to the biblical Appointed Time of God called The Day of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), has a zero % illumination of the moon, which means it simply can not be the biblical Day of Trumpets.  That fact confirmed to me that there was absolutely no way to keep the command on that night, and it also confirmed to me by the Heavens themselves that the faithful people who are working together (both non-believing Karaite Jews and Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua) were correct in their efforts.  Thus, for the forth year in a row the rabbinic calendar will be two days ahead of God's calendar.

Therefore, we have chosen to let the HEAVENS declare the glory of God and that is why we are observing the Feasts of the Lord according to the actual physical and humanly observable barley harvest in Israel each year in which God Himself declares the beginning of the year (i.e. the REAL Rosh HaShanah (head of the year) around April each year which sets the dates and is part of how we determine when all of the Appointed Times of the Year should occur.
