Lord's Supper 2009
PICTURES TAKEN BELOW ARE FROM THE EVENING PRIOR TO PASSOVER AS THE DAY APPROACHED: IN THIS CASE THURSDAY EVENING APRIL 9TH, WHICH AT SUNDOWN MARKED THE OFFICIAL BEGINNING OF THE "DAY OF PASSOVER," BUT IT IS A WORK DAY IN WHICH WE REMOVE THE LAST OF THE LEAVEN, AND THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON WAS WHEN THE LAMBS WERE SACRIFICED.  FRIDAY EVENING AS PASSOVER THE DAY ENDS, WE HAD THE TRADITIONAL SEDER (PICTURES ON UNLEAVENED BREAD 2009 PAGE), WHICH STARTED THE FIRST DAY OF THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD AT SUNDOWN FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH.

PICTURES 1 through 3:  BLOOD ON THE DOORPOST CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY

The first three pictures below are of my girls using red paint to imagine what it would have been like that very First Passover.  What if we were the Israelites back then?  What if we had been slaves in Egypt (just as we were slaves to sin) and the Lord had commanded us to put the blood on our doorposts because that night the destroyer would have come, but with the blood God would Pass-over and spare our homes?  We also talked about Yeshua, and the fact that He is THE DOOR to God/Heaven.  And it is only through His blood that we enter back into fellowship with God and can enter God's House.

PICTURES 4 and 5: LAST SUPPER BIBLIODRAMA

The 4th and 5th pictures below are of our bibliodrama in which we all dressed up in biblical garb, and my husband played the role of Yeshua. He is dressed in the traditional "kittle" which is what the male orthodox Jews still wear when they lead a seder service to this day.  It was to represent a burial shroud.  This symbolism seemed appropriate as we conducted the "LAST SUPPER," on the evening (right before sundown) that was the same time Yeshua had a final meal with His disciples (that night at sundown begins "Passover" day which is a work day in which they killed the Passover lambs the following afternoon between noon and 3PM approximately, and that evening the Seder was then held and by sundown began the Feast of Unleavened Bread which is a Sabbath).   Harkening back to the Bread of Life Discourse in which Yeshua proclaimed Himself the Bread of Life, we read through the various passages to reinact the events of that evening such that we recall that occasion and all it was meant to signify as we are called to eat His Flesh and Drink His Blood (i.e. hear and obey His teachings of the Torah, since He is the Living Torah or the Torah made Flesh).

PICTURES 1 through 4 below:  SEARCHING FOR THE LAST OF THE LEAVEN

With flash lights in hand (you can't really tell they are in the dark because of my flash camera), my girls began a fun search of the house for any remaining leaven (pieces of bread etc. that I had hidden for them to find).  We discussed how sin can hide and is not always easy to recognize and how we have to sometimes search to make sure we don't leave anything unnoticed.  We also used this time to help hide different items that contain leaven so that they could begin to recognize those items that would be off limits for the rest of the week starting the next night.  They loved this game and wanted to keep playing it, but also learned a lot about the concepts as they relate to sin in the process.  (Dad is also seen doing the traditional feather/spoon sweep of some of the crumbs that were left behind when the girls found the pieces of bread).
